RoseAleta Laurell does not fit anyone’s stereotype of what a librarian “should” be or do. When she found her new library to have an outdated collection that didn’t appeal to children in her town in Texas, she decided to hold her own fund-raiser by spending a week on the roof. The leaders in town didn’t think that a proper librarian should be on a roof, and she simply told them that then they needed to work hard to raise the money so she could build the library that the town’s children deserved. They got to it, and she was able to make the library in Lockhart , Texas a popular place for both children and adults. Based on a true story, this shows how one person can really inspire others and make a positive change in a community.
